Dear Friends,
Language is an essential part of culture. For members of a cultural group, the common language binds individuals to each other and to their common past. For those outside of that cultural group, knowledge of the language gives them an insight into the culture, history, and way of thinking of members of the group. Thus, to preserve a culture, it is essential that we preserve the language. How much more important is it then to preserve Hebrew, the language of the Jewish people. A language and culture that spans three millennia.
Hebrew carries the stories, prayers, memories, and hopes of generations. It binds together people from every corner of the world and provides a window into the culture embedded in the language. Whether spoken in classrooms, whispered in prayer, or sung in communal gatherings, Hebrew is a living reminder of continuity and belonging.
The mission of the Hebrew Language Society is to make the Hebrew language accessible, meaningful, and alive for anyone who seeks it.
But we need your help to fulfil this goal.
Your generosity ensures that Hebrew remains a source of strength, pride, and continuity – especially during difficult times. In moments when the world feels uncertain, learning becomes an act of courage. Preserving language becomes an act of hope. We invite you to join us in strengthening that hope.
Please consider making a donation today to support Hebrew Language Society and help ensure that the beauty, depth, and resilience of Hebrew continue to enrich future generations.
With gratitude,
Eli M. Gottfried
